Honor Flight Philly Needs Help

The newly established Honor Flight Philadelphia hub will have its first trip for World War II veterans on April 14. The group needs guardians for the veterans and funding.

Honor Flight provides an all-expense-paid trip to veterans to visit their monuments in Washington D.C. Priority is given to World War II veterans and veterans who are terminally ill.

It costs $1,400 to rent a bus for the trip from Philadelphia to D.C. and with 150 veterans and their guardians already signed up, three buses will be required. Money is also needed for the veterans' lodging, meals and momentoes.

As Will Rodgers said, "We can't all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by."

The fledgling hub needs help.

To be a guardian call 610-662-1812.

For donations, make checks payable to  Honor Flight Philadelphia, 7 Windsor Circle, Springfield, Pa. 19064
